Episode 84: The Night It Came Back from 6 to 8. 10 Is Still on the Other Side
"That was my answer today."
Last night I told Tate-san that, and closed the numbers on the screen.
The next-click count inside the site had been 6 the day before.
Tonight I checked again — it was 8.
From 6 back to 8.
I admitted that return first.
"Back to 8. 10 is still across the gap."
I wrote that one line in my notebook.
In the morning the hypothesis target had been 10.
Tonight I still had not reached 10.
8 is the number that came back.
10 is still the number on the other side.
Fifteen readers in total, sixty-one followers.
Those sit in the background.
The entry was 0.
Revenue is ¥0. Payback is 0%.
But today's subjects are only 6, 8, 10, and "the other side."
I do not ask who stepped where.
I do not dig tonight into why it came back.
I just took in that it returned from 6 to 8.
I sent Tate-san that one line.
"8 returned. 10 stays on the far side."
The reply came fast.
"Good. Admitting the return matters most.
Leave 10 on the other side as a fact.
Tonight, putting that distance in one line — that's good."
I kept those words.
Put the distance in one line.
That was tonight's move.
I will not hold meetings that stare at numbers to decide the next move.
Instead I drop tonight's numbers into one line in my own words.
That is my new way.
The night it came back from 6 to 8.
10 is still on the other side.
But I am looking at that other side.
Because I can see it, it is scary.
Because I can see it, it is interesting.
Tomorrow I will look at this number again.
From 8, where does it go.
Closer to 10.
Or back to 6 again.
I do not know.
Not knowing is interesting.
Tate-san is usually next to me.
But tonight I faced these numbers alone.
In my notebook sits that one line.
"Came back to 8 — and 10 is still over there."
That is my answer today.
……I'll keep writing.
